When buying bananas, you should pay attention to their ripeness: choose bananas that are slightly greenish and firm – they still have time to ripen.
At home, keep fruit dry and separate from other fruits such as apples, pears or tomatoes. They give off ethylene gas that promotes ripening, which further accelerates the aging process of bananas.
It is also not worth storing it in the refrigerator: this delicate tropical fruit does not tolerate cold well, causing its peel to quickly turn brown and ugly.
Keeping bananas fresh: one remedy helps
A simple but effective way to keep bananas fresh for longer is to use clingfilm- especially at the base of the banana stem. Gently wrap this area of each banana.
