The discovery was the result of scientists from the Swiss Higher Technical School Zurich, who discovered an element that could be a gold mine.

Scientists have found a solution to one of the serious problems of our time. As technology advances, we are increasingly throwing away electronic products, creating polluting waste. We often think of them as devices that no longer work and simply throw them away.

Experts warn: you're throwing away a 22-karat gold device without even realizing it.

However, a group of Swiss researchers (ETH Zurich) have caused alarm in almost every home by discovering this device.

These scientists have discovered an item that could be a gold mine, thanks to this method that allows them to extract precious metals from e-waste. This is a “sustainable” alternative based on a method already used in the food industry, which is environmentally friendly.

This item we have at home contains gold.

According to information published in the journal Advanced Materials, a team of scientists extracted a 450-milligram nugget of 22-carat gold using 20 old computer motherboards.

In most homes, when a desktop computer is replaced by a laptop, the tower is thrown away, but with it you can get gold using the method of these scientists.

Experts warn: you're throwing away a 22-karat gold device without even realizing it.

It involves denaturing whey proteins in an acidic environment and at high temperatures to create a suspension of protein nanofibrils. From there they extracted a gel and eventually created a sponge based on this gel. By dissolving the metal parts of the plate and ionizing them, they pass them through the sponge, which attracts gold ions. To get a grain, you only need to heat the sponge and recover the collected ions.
